Why do so many Coon Rapids ramblers have cold floors and drafty rim joists?
Coon Rapids was built out in the 1960s and 1970s, and the code at the time did not require sealing the rim joist. In a rambler, the rim joist runs all the way around the perimeter at foundation level, and if it is just sitting open or stuffed with loose fiberglass, cold air comes straight through the floor.
